ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY - OPEN STAGES Following discussions between the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and NDFA on the Open Stages Project it was agreed that the NDFA 2012 British All Winners Drama Festival (BAWF) will have an extra 'Shakespeare Themed' category, with the tantalizing carrot of a performance in Stratford upon Avon for the winner. So, if you choose to enter a NDFA-associated drama festival in the period July 2011 - June 2012 with a Shakespeare-themed play, it will be eligible for consideration for the Open Stages special category in the July 2012 BAWF at the Thwaites Empire Theatre in Blackburn, Lancashire. NDFA is proud to be working with the RSC on the Open Stages Project, and we want to encourage our members to take advantage of this opportunity. For an update on the RSC's Open Stages project, please go to RSC Open Stages where you will find news, a timeline of events and future steps. 'Open Stages' is a project in the Cultural Olympiad and the RSC is hoping to develop a range of opportunities with amateur theatre out of this project, so this is an exciting opportunity for us all.
